About the scheme
It links carriers’ reservation and ticketing systems to the Ministry of Justice entry/departure management system, and passenger manifest information provided by these carriers are fed to the MOJ system.
i-PreChecking screens this information to sort out terrorists, blacklisted passengers or lost passport holders and relay results to carriers real-time whether passengers are OK or NOT OK to board their plane.
It, therefore, prevents potentially dangerous passengers from boarding planes from the very beginning.
How does it work?
Carriers' request to check whether it's OK or NOT OK to issue boarding pass | Passengers' information is relayed to MOJ when he/she places reservations or is issued a boarding pass |
---|---|
MOJ’s reply to carriers | Passenger information feed is filtered through MOJ’s blacklisted passenger, VISA issuance, lost passport database and reply to carriers who is OK or NOT OK to board. |
Carriers issue boarding pass | Carriers issue boarding pass to OK passengers. |
ow does it benefit us?
- It ensures Korea's national security and passengers' safety by blocking high risk passengers from boarding planes.
- It saves carriers' and passengers' cost by dramatically reducing the possibility of deportation cost of blacklisted passengers from arising.
- It allows speedier immigration clearance for low risk passengers.
