Temporary fee exemption for extension of stay, nationality-related applications. Fees for permissions of stay and nationality-related applications will be exempted for foreign residents such as seasonal workers in the Special Disaster Areas until April 30 (Wed.). What regions are declared as a Special Disaster Area? Declared on March 22 / Sancheong-gun Gyeongnam. Declared on March 24 / Ulju-gun Ulsan, Uiseong-gun Gyeongbuk, Hadong-gun Gyeongnam. Declared on March 27 / Andong-si Gyeongbuk, Cheongsong-gun Gyeongbuk, Yeongyang-gun Gyeongbuk, Yeongdeok-gun Gyeongbuk. Exemption Eligibility: Those registered as foreigners (including reporting residence) in the disaster-declared area from the date of declaration of a special disaster area to the present. Scope of Application: · Permission for Activities other than Status of Stay, Permission for Change of Workplace, Grant of Status of Stay, Permission for Change of Status, Permission for Extension of Stay under the Immigration Act. Permission for Naturalization, Permission for Restoration of Nationality, Notification of (re)Acquisition of Nationality, Notification of Retention of Nationality under the Nationality Act.


Fines Exempted for Failure to Timely Extend the Stay Due to the Wildfire. Damage to foreign residents will be minimized by exempting fines for those failing to extend the stay within the specified period due to the wildfire. Other exemptions besides the extension of stay? Fines/penalties will exempted for violations of various permissions/ reporting obligations until April this year. In case a violation occurred before the declaration of special disaster area, the period excluding from the declaration date to the time of processing will be considered as the violation period.


Employment and Recruitment Support for Foreign Seasonal Workers in Agriculture and Fisheries. Change of workplace will be granted by priority for seasonal workers facing difficulties with employment due to the recent wildfire damage to support their continuous employment in other farms. What are the plans ahead? Affected farms cannot hire seasonal workers at the moment. However, expedited visa issuance will be made available to facilitate amicable employment for seasonal workers when farm work resumes after this. The Ministry of Justice plans to apply this measure to other regions declared as a Special Disaster Area during the implementation period in addition to the current 8 regions.
