법무부 Ministry of Justice 재외동포가 꼭 알아야 할 국적 관련 신고 1. 국적 선택 대상: 출생과 동시에 한국 국적과 외국 국적을 함께 취득한 사람 시기: 22세 되는 해 생일 전(남녀공통)까지 혹은 병역의무 해소 후 2년 내 장소: 출입국·외국인청(사무소) 혹은 재외공관 원정출산 아닐 경우 병역의무와 상관없이 22세 생일 전에 국적 선택 신고 및 외국 국적 불행사 서약 가능 또는 현역 복무 후 2년 내 국적 선택 신고 및 외국 국적 불행사 서약을 통해 복수국적 유지 가능 ※ 국적 선택의무 기간 내에 국적을 선택하지 않으면 국적 선택 명령 대상에 해당 2. 국적 이탈 대상: 출생과 동시에 한국 국적과 외국 국적을 함께 취득한 사람(남성) 시기: 출생 이후 18세가 되는 해의 3월 31일까지 장소: 외국에 주된 생활 근거지가 있는 주소지 관할 재외공관에서만 신청 가능 3. 국적 상실 대상: 대한민국 국민이 자진하여 외국 국적을 취득한 사람 시기: 외국 국적을 취득한 때 한국 국적 상실 장소: 출입국·외국인청(사무소), 재외공관, 시·구·읍·면 사무소 4. 국적 보유 대상: 대한민국 국민이 비자발적으로 외국 국적을 취득한 사람 시기: 외국 국적 취득 후 6개월 내 한국 국적 보유 신고 및 의사 표시 장소: 출입국·외국인청(사무소), 재외공관 카카오플러스친구 「법무부 국적종합정보」 검색 또는 우측 QR 코드 스캔 하이코리아 (www.hikorea.go.kr) 정보광장 → 국적/귀화안내 국적 선택의무/선택절차/이탈절차/보유상실 문의전화: 국번 없이 “1345” (해외 문의: +82-1345, +82-2-6908-1345-6) ※ 단, 국적 보유 신고 후 국적 선택 신고(20세 미만자는 22세 되기 전, 20세 이상자는 2년 내) 반드시 이행해야 함 4.PNG (네 번째 이미지 - 국적 신고 관련 정보)


Reporting on nationality matters that overses Koreans should know 1. Choice of nationality **Eligibility**: The persons who acquired both Korean and foreign nationalities at birth **Time Limit**: Before reaching the age of 22 (for both males and females) or within 2 years after fulfilling military obligations **Reporting locations**: An immigration office or a diplomatic mission overseas Unless born abroad as an anchor baby, Koreans with dual nationalities have the options to report their choice of Korean nationality and vow not to exercise a foreign nationality in Korea for maintaining dual nationalities before turning 22 (regardless of military service obligations); or to do so within 2 years after active military service. **Note**: Failing to choose a nationality within the designated period for nationality selection will result in being subject to an order to choose one nationality. 2. Renunciation of nationality **Eligibility**: The persons who acquired both Korean and foreign nationalities at birth (applicable to males) **Time Limit**: Until March 31st of the year when they reach the age of 18 after birth **Reporting locations**: Applications are accepted only at a diplomatic mission overseas having jurisdiction over the place of residence, which is the primary base of living in a foreign country. 3. Loss of nationality **Eligibility**: Korean nationals who voluntarily acquire the nationality of a foreign country **Time Limit**: At the time of acquiring the foreign nationality, the Korean nationality will be lost. **Reporting locations**: An immigration office or a diplomatic mission overseas, Community Service Centers (Si, Gu, Eup, or Myeon). 4. Retention of nationality **Eligibility**: Korean nationals who involuntarily acquire the nationality of a foreign country **Time Limit**: Within 6 months after acquiring the foreign nationality, the applicable person shall declare the intention to maintain the Korean nationality. **Reporting locations**: An immigration office or a diplomatic mission overseas. **Note**: However, after declaring the intention to retain nationality, the applicable person shall declare the intention to choose his/her nationality (before turning 22 for those under 20 years old, and within 2 years for those over 20 years old).
