안녕하세요 이민자 멘토단 카를로스 고리토입니다. 세계적으로 인정받는 대한민국 자동출입국심사! 

한국 사람만 이용할 수 있다고 그렇게 다들 알고 있는데요. 그렇지 않습니다. 경우에 따라 외국인도 자동출입국 심사를 이용할 수 있다고 합니다. 어떨 때 외국인이 자동 출입국 심사를 이용할 수 있는지 재미있는 꽁트를 통해 알려드리도록 하겠습니다.

Hello, I’m Carlos Gorito, a member of the Immigrant Mentor Group. The Smart Entry System (SES), the automated immigration gates, is now globally recognized! However, many people misunderstand that it is only available to Korean nationals. But that's not the case. In fact, foreign nationals can use the SES too in some cases. Today, we will explain when foreigners can use the system through a fun skit.

그런데 아내와 같이 입국심사를 못 받다니 너무 불편하겠네요!

It must be really inconvenient to be separated from your wife to complete the immigration process.

맞아요. 입국 심사할 때마다 헤어지는 거 좀 힘들어요.

Yes, it is pretty tough to be separated every time we go through the entry process. 

잠깐! 그렇지 않아요 결혼 이민자, 영주자 자격, 재외동포 자격 소지자는 외국인 입국 심사대도 이용 가능! 국민 입국심사대도 이용 가능! 

Wait. You don’t need to be separated. Overseas Koreans, permanent residents (F-5 visa holders), and marriage immigrants can use both the entry lane for foreign nationals and Korean passport holders.

그러면 우리 자기랑 국민입국심사대 이용하면 되는 건가요? 

Then, can my wife and I use the same entry lane as Koreans?

Tips for immigration 

Marriage Immigrants, overseas Koreans, permanent residents (F-5 visa holders) are eligible to use both the entry lane for foreign nationals and for Korean passport holders.

네, 저는 한국에 취업해서 지금까지 한국에 살고 있는데 출장 갈 때마다 외국인 심사대 이용하는 거 너무 불편해요.

Yes, I’ve been living in Korea since I got a job here, but it’s really inconvenient to use the immigration lane for foreign nationals every time I get back from my business trip. 

저도 사실 여행하러 왔는데 자동 심사대 이용할 수 있는지 물어보려고요

I actually came to travel in Korea, and I’d like to know if I can use the SES. 

잠깐! 걱정할 필요가 없어요. 외국인등록 또는 거소신고한 17세 이상 외국인이면 사전 등록 없이 자동 심사대를 이용 가능!

Wait! No worries. Foreign nationals aged 17 and older who are registered or have reported domestic residence can use it upon arrival and departure without prior registration.

저는 여태까지 그거 모르고 계속 외국인심사대만 이용한 거예요?

No way. I’ve only used the immigration lane for foreign nationals until now! 

유인 심사대에서 심사관이 카메라로 얼굴을 찍고 지문도 수집했거든요.

At the manned immigration counter, the officers collected fingerprint information and took a photo with a camera.

여행을 온 외국인도 이렇게 입국할 때 얼굴과 지문 정보를 제공했다면 출국할 때도 자동 심사대를 이용할 수 있습니다.

If foreign visitors provide their facial image and fingerprints upon arrival, they can also use the SES when departing. 

그러면 여기서 줄 설 필요 없겠네요

>외국인등록 또는 거소 신고 한 17세 이상 외국인은 사정등록 없이 자동출입국 심사대 이용 가능(단, 7-17세 사전등록필수)

>17세 이상 여행객 입국 시 지문과 얼굴정보 제공하면 출국 시 자동출입국 심사대 이용 가능 

Tips for Immigration 

▶ Foreigners aged 17 and older who are registered or have reported domestic residence are eligible to use the Smart Entry Service (SES) without prior registration (Prior registration is required for those aged 7 and under 17.)

▶ Tourists aged 17 and above are eligible to use the SES at departure if they provide information on fingerprints and facial image during entry inspection.
