New Residence Card starting from April 1, 2023 Ministry of Justice


New Residence card What changes have been made? Use color photo instead of black and white. Enlarge photo size to improve visibility. Shift text alignment and change photo location left to right. Include QR code for user convenience.


New changes will be made to Overseas Korean Resident Cards and Permanent Resident Cards as well.


Does my older residence card need replacing? No. Your older card issued in accordance with previous regulations will remain valid until you apply for a replacement card. Redesigned cards will be issued to applicants who intend to have their older cards reissued due to loss, change of visa status, or other reasons. If you simply prefer the new designs and choose to have your current card replaced with the newly redesigned one, please note that your existing card must be returned and a feel of 30,000 won will be charged for card replacement
